Students Receive Standing Ovation

Performing at Saturday night's Concerto Concert were, from left to right,
Josias Sanchez, Josh Flynn, Orchestra Director Jennifer Penner,
Michelle Liu, Greicy Perez, Rosy Kim, Aaron Bosdanin and Antoniel Roca.
Repeated standing ovations marked this year’s Concerto Concert, Saturday night, March 30.  “The soloists’ preparation and passion for the music was clearly evident in their performances,” said Cassandra Kern, Administrative Assistant for the Division of Arts.  “I was very impressed with how well the orchestra accompanied the soloists.”

The concert consisted of performances by seven student soloists and included the music of Mozart, Hummel, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky.  A copy of the printed program can be found here.
Josias Sanchez, a 3rd-year Music Performance major from Mexico, delighted the audience with his performance of the Allegro movement of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, Opus 64.
Josh Flynn, a 4th-year Music major from Lacombe performed the Allegro and
Allegretto portions of Saint-Saens' Cellow Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Opus 33.
Rosy Kim, a 2nd-year Biology major from Lacombe dazzled the audience with her vibrant performance of the Allegro movement of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, Opus 35.
